UAE wins “Young Model” award for Arab Youth Council in Cairo

The United Arab Emirates, represented by Cheb Hamed Ahmed Ali Al-Hamed, won the prize of the “Young Model” competition in its second edition organized by the Arab Youth Council for Integrated Development in cooperation with the Social Affairs Sector of the League of Arab States.

Fifteen young people from the UAE, Jordan, Bahrain, Tunisia, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Palestine, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Libya, Egypt, Morocco, Mauritania and Yemen qualified for the competition.

Dr. Mushira Abu Ghali, Chairperson of the Arab Youth Council, said in her opening remarks at the coronation ceremony held in Cairo that the competition, which was launched in 2017, is the first of its kind in the Arab world to choose the young role model through the nominations of the youth of each Arab country. It also comes within a series of cultural and social initiatives launched by the Arab Youth Council to consolidate belonging to the national and Arab identity and instill the spirit of volunteerism and tolerance among youth and combat the dark thought that targets the minds of young people and motivate youth to national action to ensure stability, security and peace. The young model has witnessed an Arab youth movement where the official website of the competition received 3529 nominations from 15 Arab countries.

For his part, Minister Abdel Moneim Al Shaeri, Director of Youth and Sports Department at the Arab League, said during the coronation ceremony that such competitions are a starting point for the conscious youth and the preparation of youth cadres capable of advancing the joint Arab action.

He added that the League of Arab States attaches great importance to the youth. Civil society organizations are technical arms for Arab action in the field of sustainable development.

He pointed out the interest of the Arab League in developing the capabilities of the Arab youth.

In his speech, Al-Shaeri sent a message to the Arab youth that they should realize that they are the pillars of this nation.

It is noteworthy that the competition “model youth” aims to show the young role model in the Arab countries and consolidate belonging to the national and Arab identity, mobilization of motivation and inculcation of values ​​among young people and adherence to the traditional Arab customs and traditions, and upgrading the behaviors of young people and uphold good manners and community participation and instill the spirit of volunteerism and tolerance among young people. To combat obscurantist ideas that target the minds of young people and motivate youth to national action to ensure stability, security and peace.
