A Boeing plane slides into the Florida River and the 136 passengers survive

A Boeing 737, carrying 136 people, plunged into the St. John’s River at the end of the landing runway near Jacksonville, Florida, and there were no reports of casualties.

Laine Curry, Jacksonville’s mayor, confirmed that all the passengers were alive and confined, but crews were working to control the jet’s fuel leaking into the water.

The Jacksonville police chief’s office confirmed that all those aboard were alive and well … noting that the plane had slipped into shallow water.
